Wellborn Dominates SlamFest, Oxford Claims Second Place, and More: A Recap of Local Volleyball Action

Calhoun County, AL – Wellborn wins its SlamFest. Oxford second at Husky Challenge, and Pleasant Valley goes 2-2. Alexandria 3-1 at Hartselle. Munford takes silver bracket at Donoho Classic. Cherokee County champion at Gadsden City.

Wellborn swept through it’s SlamFest tournament on Saturday to improve to 17-4 overall.

The Panthers beat Piedmont 25-21, 25-21, Ranburne 25-8, 25-6 and White Plains 25-17, 25-11 before beating Faith Christian 25-11, 25-23 in the championship.

OXFORD: The Yellow Jackets played their way to a runner-up finish in the gold bracket of the Hewitt-Trussville Husky Challenge on Saturday.

Oxford beat Parker 25-12, 25-16, Pleasant valley 25-16, 18-25, 15-12, Carver 25-14, 25-14, Brewer 25-12, 25-18 and Pleasant Valley 16-25, 25-23, 15-11 to reach the final.

The Yellow Jackets lost to Fort Payne in the gold bracket championship, 14-25, 22-25.

ALEXANDRIA: The Valley Cubs went 3-1 in the Eddie Preuitt Ford Tournament at Hartselle on Saturday, beating Albertville 25-11, 25-18, Madison County 25-12, 25-19 and Central Florence 25-15, 25-9 and losing to Hartselle 25-14, 19-25, 8-15.

CHEROKEE COUNTY: The Warriors went 4-0 and won the Dig in the City Tournament Gadsden City. They beat Clay-Chalkville 25-18, 25-10 and Ohatchee 27-25, 25-21 in pool play, Moody 25-22, 25-19 in the semifinals and Boaz 19-25, 25-20, 15-12 in the finals.
