Whataburger on the Horizon: Jacksonville Anticipates Iconic Burger Joint

Whataburger

Jacksonville, AL – Excitement is building in Jacksonville as signs of a beloved burger icon, Whataburger, emerge on Alabama 21, right beside Jack’s. The sight of the Whataburger sign rising marks a significant milestone for eager residents, bringing them one step closer to enjoying the legendary flavors and unparalleled dining experience that Whataburger is renowned for. While an official opening date has yet to be announced, summer is tentatively set as the target for the grand unveiling.

The journey of Whataburger traces back to August 8, 1950, when entrepreneur Harmon Dobson embarked on a mission to redefine the burger experience. Opening the world’s first Whataburger on Ayers Street in Corpus Christi, Texas, Dobson set out with a simple goal: to serve a burger so substantial it required two hands to hold, and so delicious that one bite would prompt customers to exclaim, “What a burger!” True to his vision, Whataburger swiftly became a Texas and Southern legend, beloved for its hearty burgers and commitment to quality.

Crafted from 100 percent pure, never-frozen beef and served on a toasted five-inch bun, Whataburger offers a customizable experience, allowing customers to tailor their burgers with a variety of toppings and condiments. Whether it’s grilled jalapeños, extra bacon, or three slices of cheese, Whataburger prides itself on accommodating every preference, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Over its more than 70-year history, Whataburger has amassed a devoted following, celebrated not only for its mouthwatering burgers but also for its iconic orange-and-white-striped restaurants and famous Fancy Ketchup. Yet, Whataburger is more than just a burger chain—it’s a cherished community fixture, cherished by over 50,000 employees affectionately referred to as Family Members, and millions of customers alike. Rooted in values of pride, care, and love, Whataburger transcends its status as a restaurant—it’s a place where goodness thrives, a home away from home for many.

With over 900 Whataburger restaurants spanning 14 states from Arizona to Florida, the impending arrival of Whataburger in Jacksonville represents more than just a new dining option—it’s a celebration of tradition, flavor, and community.
