Cleburne County, AL – A Cullman woman has died from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday evening in Cleburne County.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the crash happened at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, when a 2020 Kia K3 left the roadway on Interstate 20 near the 205 mile marker, about seven miles southeast of Heflin. The vehicle struck a guardrail before colliding with a concrete barrier.
The driver, identified as Morgan A. Shirley, 29, was critically injured in the crash. ALEA reported that she was not using a seat belt at the time of the incident. Shirley was airlifted to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital for treatment.
On Tuesday, Nov. 25, Shirley succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continues to investigate. No further information is available at this time.
