ANNISTON, AL — Military veterans looking to transition into agriculture will have the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge at a special workshop on March 4, 2025. Hosted by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, the event will take place at the Calhoun County Extension Auditorium, located at 1702 Noble Street, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The workshop is designed to introduce veterans to various aspects of farming and provide them with essential information on starting their agricultural journey. With space limited to 30 participants, interested individuals are encouraged to reserve their spot by calling 256-237-1621 or emailing czd0008@aces.edu.
The program will feature expert-led sessions covering key areas of agricultural production, including:
- Getting Started in Livestock Production – Presented by Jenna Schmidt
- Farm Business Planning – Led by Ajoa Brothers
- Getting Started in Vegetable Production – Taught by Dr. Andre da Silva
- Getting Started in Fruit Production – Conducted by Dr. Chip East
