One Injured Following Shooting Incident at Oxford Business; Three in Custody

Oxford, AL – The Oxford Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred late Friday night at a business on Hamric Drive West in Oxford.

According to police, officers responded at approximately 10:30 p.m. on May 8, 2026, to reports of gunfire at Cheers Liquor & Tobacco.

Authorities said the business and two occupied vehicles were struck during the incident. One person sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Police stated the individual has since been released.

Preliminary investigation indicates that four individuals were involved in the incident. Three individuals are currently in custody, according to law enforcement officials.

The Oxford Police Department said investigators are working with the Calhoun County District Attorney’s Office to obtain warrants related to the case.

Police also acknowledged assistance from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office during the initial response.

Officials noted the investigation remains active.
