Alabama Starts Online Surplus Auction Saturday, May 16 Featuring Cars, Boats, Tools and More

State surplus property auction begins online this Saturday, May 16

Montgomery, AL – The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs has announced its latest online surplus property auction, offering a wide range of items including cars, trucks, boats, electronics, tools and industrial equipment for public bidding beginning Saturday, May 16.

According to ADECA, the online auction will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday and continue until the final bidding closes on Sunday, May 24. The auction is managed through the agency’s Surplus Property Division, which regularly handles surplus inventory from state and federal agencies.

Interested bidders can learn how to qualify for participation through ADECA Public Auctions. Once the auction opens, available items can be viewed and bid on through GovDeals Alabama Surplus Auctions.

In addition to surplus items from government agencies, ADECA stated that some auction inventory includes property voluntarily abandoned at several airports across the Southeast.

Members of the public will also have the opportunity to inspect auction items in person at the Surplus Property Division’s Distribution Center, located at 4590 Mobile Highway in Montgomery. Public viewing hours will be available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, through Friday, May 22.

Photos of some of the auction items are available through ADECA Flickr Gallery.

ADECA noted that all auction items are sold “as is” without guarantees, and all sales become final upon pickup and removal of the property.

While the public auctions are held periodically throughout the year, surplus property remains available year-round to municipal and county governments, state agencies and qualified nonprofit organizations.

In addition to overseeing surplus property programs, ADECA administers a variety of initiatives across Alabama, including grants related to law enforcement, victim services, economic development, energy conservation, water resource management, broadband expansion and recreation development.

Additional information about the auction is available through ADECA Surplus Property Division or by calling (334) 284-0577.
