ANNISTON, AL — The Public Library of Anniston-Calhoun County will host a presentation titled “Hiking the Appalachian Trail with Don Scivley” on Tuesday, July 14, at 2 p.m.
The event will take place at the library, located at 108 E. 10th St. in Anniston, and is open to the public.
During the presentation, Birmingham resident Don Scivley will share his experience hiking the entire 2,200-mile Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. According to the event description, Scivley began preparing for the journey after retiring from Alabama Power, training with a fully loaded backpack and conditioning himself for the challenges of the trail.
Attendees will hear firsthand accounts of perseverance, discovery and life on one of America’s most well-known long-distance hiking trails.
The program is part of the library’s offerings and provides participants with the opportunity to learn about the planning, preparation and experiences involved in completing the Appalachian Trail.
The event is free and open to anyone interested in hiking, outdoor adventure or personal achievement.
