Cleburne County, AL – A single-vehicle all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crash in Cleburne County on Sunday evening claimed the lives of two Georgia residents, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).
The crash occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, when a Yamaha ATV being operated by Dylan J. Deaton, 28, of Carrollton, Georgia, left the roadway, struck a tree and overturned.
ALEA said Deaton was thrown from the ATV and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger on the ATV, Mackenzie T. Smith, 25, of Tallapoosa, Georgia, was also thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred on Cleburne County 492 near Cleburne County 49, approximately three miles south of Muscadine in Cleburne County.
No additional information has been released as troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the crash.
