Oxford, AL – Oxford Police Department K9 Officer Havoc and handler Officer Miranda Schoening earned multiple honors during the Annual International K9 Olympics and Certification held last week.
Presented by Ultimate Canine, the International K9 Olympics is a competition and certification event for active police and military K9 teams. Participation is limited to 40 teams, with handlers and their K9 partners competing in events designed to test skills used in law enforcement operations.
Schoening and Havoc finished second overall in the Explosive Detection K9 Team category.
The Oxford team also earned several individual event placements:
- 1st Place – Open Area Search
- 2nd Place – Scramble
- 2nd Place – Building Search
- 4th Place – Tracking
The Oxford Police Department recognized Schoening and Havoc following the competition, noting the training and preparation required for the team to compete while maintaining its responsibilities serving the community.
The International K9 Olympics provides participating teams an opportunity to test their abilities against other active law enforcement and military K9 teams while also completing certification requirements.
