Jacksonville High football program placed on probation, assessed fine and must forfeit victory over Piedmont, AHSAA announces. Violation self-reported.

Jacksonville High School’s football program has been fined and placed on probation for playing an ineligible player in violation of the AHSAA Transfer Rule, the AHSAA announced Friday..
The Golden Eagles must forfeit all games won that the ineligible student participated in. They were 1-1 headed into tonight’s Class 4A, Region 6 game with Lincoln, the one victory coming against Piedmont on Aug. 21.
Jacksonville athletics director David Clark confirmed that the Golden Eagles must forfeit the Piedmont game, meaning they are now 0-2. They lost their other game, at Oxford.
The ineligible player was assessed restitution for the contests he participated in while ineligible. The AHSAA release did not specify which player.
Cross Land, a transfer from Auburn who started Jacksonville’s first two games at quarterback, did not start against Lincoln. Freshman Javin Scott started at quarterback,
This violation was self-reported, the AHSAA release said.
“The AHSAA has made a ruling, and we are complying and following their directions,” Clark said.
