80 New Jobs Coming to Piedmont by 2023

Piedmont, AL – A large item discussed in Tuesday’s Piedmont City Council Meeting was the expansion of CVG, a business known to local residents as Bostrum.  Don Hopper, Executive Director of the Calhoun County Economic Development Council stated that CVG would bring $3.2 Million in equipment and machinery expansions, as well as 80 new jobs to the area at the beginning of 2023.

The company asked the council to approve a tax abatement for the period of 5 years, while the company expands the business and allows it to grow.  This tax abatement would only be for state and local noneducational property taxes, as well as all construction related transaction taxes, except those local construction related transition taxes levied for educational purposes or for capital improvements for education.

Daniel Flanary, who is the Piedmont CVG Plant Manager, was also at the meeting.  Flanary explained that the plant was scheduled to close two years ago, but now they have already added hundreds of thousands of dollars in equipment and are continuing to upgrade several parts of the plant. He also stated that CVG will be even bigger now than ever before and that he is looking forward to staying and retiring in Piedmont.

Permission for Mayor Bill Baker to sign the tax abatement, as well as any other paperwork involved, was approved by the council.
