Sparklight to Award $15,000 to Support STEM Education

Calhoun County, AL – Calhoun County’s educational landscape is set to receive a boost as Sparklight®, a prominent broadband communications provider, announces the launch of its highly anticipated 6th annual “Dream Bigger” contest. Geared towards schools and organizations catering to K-12 students, this initiative presents a golden opportunity for local entities to vie for a $2,500 grant dedicated to advancing science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) projects or clubs.

Open to K-12 schools and organizations across communities in the 21 states served by Sparklight, including Calhoun County, this contest aims to foster innovation and educational excellence. Interested participants can enter the competition by submitting a photo and a written summary at sparklight.com/contest, illustrating how the funds will be strategically utilized for a technology project or group, thereby benefiting students.

Six deserving winners will be crowned, each receiving a $2,500 donation to fuel their STEM initiatives. Trish Niemann, Vice President of Communications Strategy at Sparklight, underscores the importance of STEM education, stating, “STEM education helps students develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed for academic and career success.”

The submission window for entries is open from February 22 through March 12, 2024. The selection process includes the identification of twelve finalists by Sparklight, followed by a public online voting period from March 14 through March 21, all taking place on the same site. The finalists, along with the winning schools and organizations, will be prominently featured on Sparklight’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter).
