Oxford, AL – If you’ve never fished before but are eager to learn, or if you’re looking to improve your fishing skills, a free fishing clinic hosted by Coosa Riverkeeper is coming to Oxford, Alabama. The clinic is open to all ages, offering a chance for children and families to learn essential fishing techniques while enjoying the beauty of the Coosa River.
The event will take place on Saturday, October 26, 2024, with two sessions available: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 401 McCullers Lane, Oxford, AL 36203. Participants must sign up in advance, and registration can be completed online here.
What to Expect:
- Fishing Basics: Kids will learn essential skills like knot-tying, water safety, fish handling, and casting.
- Responsible River Recreation: Lessons will include discussions on how to responsibly enjoy and protect the river environment.
- No Equipment Needed: All fishing gear will be provided, so there’s no need to bring anything.
Parents are encouraged to stay with their children during the clinic. However, if a parent needs to leave, Coosa Riverkeeper staff will collect contact information and notify parents when it’s time for pickup.
Be sure to dress in weather-appropriate clothing. In the event of bad weather, participants will be contacted to reschedule the clinic.
