JACKSONVILLE, AL — Andy Green has officially announced his campaign for reelection to Place 1 on the Jacksonville City Council. First elected in 2020, Green is seeking a second term, citing his commitment to promoting economic development, maintaining a high quality of life, and encouraging transparent communication between city officials and residents.
Green currently serves as Dean of Student Services at Gadsden State Community College and previously held leadership positions at Jacksonville State University for nearly two decades. His professional and civic background includes service on the Jacksonville Civil Service Board and the Commercial Development Authority.
“Jacksonville is a city of opportunity, and I am dedicated to preserving and enhancing the high quality of life that makes our community a wonderful place to live,” said Green. He emphasized continued support for local businesses, investment in safe neighborhoods, and access to vital resources for families.
In addition to his elected service, Green has participated in several regional initiatives and nonprofit efforts. His past roles include involvement with the Calhoun County Complete Count Census Committee, the Alabama Law Enforcement Appreciation Foundation, United Way of East Central Alabama, and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the Cheaha Region.
A graduate of Jacksonville State University, Green holds a bachelor’s degree in geography and a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in spatial analysis management. He and his family are long-time Jacksonville residents, actively engaged in local sports, church, and civic activities.
“My focus is on continuing to build a community where families can thrive, businesses can grow, and citizens can count on their local government to be both responsive and accountable,” Green stated.
The municipal election will be held later this year.
