BIRMINGHAM, AL — America’s First Federal Credit Union (AmFirst), in partnership with ABC 33/40, has launched its 2025 “Feeding Families Across Alabama” food drive, which runs from Tuesday, July 1, through Thursday, July 31. All 21 AmFirst branches statewide will be accepting nonperishable food donations and monetary contributions throughout the month-long campaign.
The initiative is aimed at addressing food insecurity across Alabama, particularly in Central Alabama where one in five residents is considered food insecure and one in four children faces hunger on a regular basis. Donations collected at Central Alabama branches will directly benefit the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama, which distributes more than 10 million meals annually to over 60,000 individuals across 12 counties.
Community members are encouraged to contribute nonperishable food items such as canned goods, cereals, pasta, beans, rice, and peanut butter. Organizers ask that donors refrain from bringing items in glass containers for safety reasons. In addition to food, monetary donations are welcomed. Checks should be made payable to the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama.
AmFirst’s campaign aligns with its commitment to community support and service. With 21 branches in 13 counties and more than 200,000 members, the credit union remains one of the strongest in the country. The food drive is part of its broader effort to help alleviate hunger and support vulnerable populations across the state.
Those interested in participating can visit any AmFirst location during business hours throughout July.
