Sen. Britt Joins Colleagues in Reintroducing College Transparency Act

U.S. Senators Katie Britt, Bill Cassidy, Colleagues Introduce Legislation to Provide Increased Transparency in College Outcomes

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-AL) has joined Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and a bipartisan group of Senate colleagues in reintroducing the College Transparency Act (CTA), legislation aimed at giving students and families clearer information as they plan for higher education.

The bill seeks to modernize the current post-secondary reporting system by providing accurate data on student outcomes such as enrollment, graduation rates, and post-college earnings across colleges and degree programs. Provisions of the act also emphasize protecting student privacy while making this information more accessible.

“Pursuing higher education is one of the most consequential decisions a student can make, both financially and personally. The process of planning for the future, which includes weighing options and costs, can be difficult and overwhelming,” Senator Britt said. “The College Transparency Act would help bridge that gap so potential students and their families are better able to navigate these significant decisions and are well-positioned to achieve their American Dream.”

Senator Cassidy noted that the bill builds upon previous reforms aimed at lowering college costs and increasing access to quality education. “The College Transparency Act builds on that success by empowering students and families with information to make the best college decision so they can succeed,” he stated.

Supporters of the CTA argue that increased transparency will help students better evaluate the return on investment in higher education, allow institutions to improve performance, and assist employers in finding graduates best suited for workforce needs.

Senator Britt has also supported broader education initiatives, including the Educational Choice for Children Act, which she co-sponsored with Senator Cassidy earlier this year. She has emphasized her ongoing commitment to ensuring families have resources and options when it comes to their children’s education.
