ALEXANDRIA — J.J. Beason rushed for 178 yards and three touchdowns, and Alexandria scored the final 34 points en route to a 41-7 victory over White Plains on Friday.

The Valley Cubs improved to 2-0 while winning their Class 4A, Region 6 opener. White Plains fell to 1-1, 0-1.

Beason rushed for touchdowns of one, one and 18 yards.

Alexandria rushed for 272 yards, with Ryan Brown adding a 10-yard touchdown run among his 43 rushing yards.

Quarterback Cole Wheeler hit on six of 13 passes for 69 yards and rushed for a touchdown. M.J. Morris returned a kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown.

White Plains’ Crew Martin completed 13 of 27 passes for 94 yards, including a 21-yard touchdown pass to Bryson Cheatwood, who caught three passes for 57 yards.

PLEASANT VALLEY 55, DONOHO 0: Braxton Salster hit on six of seven passes for 73 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns as Pleasant Valley upped to 2-0.

Donoho is 0-3.

Carrying their highest ever ranking at No. 5 in Class 2A in the Alabama Sports Writers Association poll, the Raiders have outscored their opposition 129-7 on the year.

Salster’s touchdown runs covered seven, 44 and 25 yards. He threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Hudson Sparks.

Jaden Sparks rushed for a 66-yard touchdown on his lone attempt, and Kayden Vick rushed for 43 yards and a touchdown on six tries.

Jameson Humphrey added a 69-yard touchdown run, and Asher Tillman’s 56 rushing yards included a 20-yard touchdown run.

The Raiders’ defense allowed just 17 yards on 34 snaps. J.D. Denham’s team-high eight tackles included two for loss. Ayden Pate and Izayah Nevens had seven tackles apiece, with Pate having two tackles for loss and Nevens a forced fumble.

Jackson Acker had six tackles, an interception and a pass breakup.

PIEDMONT 61, OHATCHEE 6: Jaxon Arnold rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns, and Nick Mixson rushed for 62 yards and two touchdowns as Piedmont improved to 3-0 overall, 2-0 in Class 3A, Region 6.

Ohatchee is 0-3, 0-2.

Quarterback Cole Austin added 36 yards and a touchdown run, and Aliandre Wright added 33 yards and a touchdown run. Austin completed 3 of 5 passes for 61 yards, including a 26-yard touchdown pass to Rollie Pinto.

Piedmont also scored on Bentley Chandler’s 40-yard interception return and Ben Dempsey’s 57-yard kickoff return.

Gus Hunter accounted for Ohatchee”s touchdown, a 1-yard run.

ANNISTON 43, ASHVILLE 20: Jabari Williams rushed for 153 yards on nine carries with two touchdowns, and Anniston improved to 2-0 overall, 1-0 in Class 4A, Region 6.

Ashville fell to 1-1, 0-1.

Quarterback Damon Pope rushed six times for 87 yards and completed four of six passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns.

Jayden Heard scored a 67-yard, catch-and-run touchdown on a pass from JaMorris Young. Heard also had a 43-yard touchdown run on the way to 57 rushing yards.

First offensive play of the game Jayden Heard catches and runs 67 yard TD from Jamorris Jakorie Carr caught three passes for 44 yards, including a 28-yard touchdown pass from Pope.

Quintavious Cunningham added a 47-yard run.

On defense, Charles Thomas had six tackles, including one sack. Dariontae Brooks Jr. led the Bulldogs with eight tackles.

WELLBORN 55, WEAVER 18: Maurice Traylor rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown, and Wellborn improved to 2-0 while winning its Class 3A, Region 6 opener.

Weaver fell to 0-2, 0-1.

Wellborn quarterback Aziah Amberson rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns and completed four of seven passes for 82 yards, including a 21-yard touchdown pass to Demarion Tippins.

Jaheim Kirby rushed for 96 yards, and Wellborn finished with 388 rushing yards. Kirby also led the Panthers with 14 tackles, and Zane Hill added 12.

Braden Horton contributed a forced fumble, fumble recovery and two pass deflections.

WESTBROOK CHRISTIAN 42, SAKS 6: Brody Blevins hit on seven of 11 passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns, and Westbrook improved to 2-0 while winning its Class 3A, Region 6 opener.

Saks fell to 1-2, 0-2.

Blevins’ touchdown passes went for 13 yards to Brodie Johnson and 37 yards to Parker Sims as the Warriors built a 42-0 lead by halftime.

Brodey Wood added an 11-yard touchdown run. Maximus Jones ran four yards for a touchdown, and Jake Haney added a 1-yard touchdown run.

Brooks Whiteside returned an interception. 27 yards for a score, Read Barber hit all six of his extra points.

GLENCOE 34, J.B. PENNINGTON 21: Jaymen Mintz hit on 10 of 16 passes for 174 yards and a touchdown, and Glencoe upped to 2-1 overall, 1-1 in Class 3A, Region 6 under first-year coach Bayley Blanchard.

Aiden Johnson caught five passes for 104 yards, and Bronner McMurry carried 10 times for a team-high 75 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Glencoe had 255 total yards to Pennington’s 245, with a 174-113 edge through the air.

HOKES BLUFF 28, ETOWAH 3: Bryce Whitaker rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns, and Hokes Bluff improved to 2-0 while winning its Class 4A, Region 6 opener.

Etowah is 0-2, 0-1.

Whitaker’s touchdown runs covered 28 and 60 yards, and Brenton Hale added touchdown runs of 42 and five yards on the way to 92 yards on 18 carries.

Bray Davis led the Eagles’ defense with 10 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss. Drew McCarver had seven tackles.

HANDLEY 36, CLEBURNE COUNTY 10: D.J. Grey and Ja’Marcus Daniel each rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown, and Handley improved to 2-1 while winning its Class 4A, Region 3 opener.

Cleburne County is 0-2, 0-1.

Daniel’s touchdown run covered 49 yards, and Grey’’s scoring run covered 43 yards.

Cordan Patterson added a 6-yard touchdown run, and Markavian Allen ran for a 2-yard touchdown.

Elijah Stegall got the Handley on the scoreboard with a 96-yard interception return, and Shawn Stegall got a tackle for loss for a safety.

Cleburne County’s Erik Escandon-Paredes hit a 36-yard field goal, and Alijah Ware added a 3-yard touchdown run on the way to a game-high 86 yards rushing.

HOPE CHRISTIAN 28, HOOPER ACADEMY 21: Kainen Bozeman completed 14 of 28 passes for 244 yards, four touchdowns and a two-point conversion as Hope improved to 2-1 in its first season of 11-man AISA football.

He also rushed for 28 yards,

Nick Morrow caught nine passes for 178 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 53 yards, and Carson Campbell added three catches for 49 yards and a two-point conversion.

RANBURNE 33, LAFAYETTE 12: Aiden Whitman rushed 16 times for 122 yards and two touchdowns,, and Ranburne upped to 2-1 while winning its Class 2A, Region 4 opener.

LaFayette is 2-1, 0-1.

Whitman also caught three passes for 16 yards.

Creed Young added 79 yards rushing and two touchdowns plus two pass receptions for 21 yards.

Quarterback Cason Jones hit on 10 of 13 passes for 105 yards, and Seth McAdams caught five passes for 68 yards and a score.

CHEROKEE COUNTY 42, ONEONTA 29: Keyshawn Woods rushed 218 yards on 26 carries and scored five touchdowns to lead Class 4A, No. 4 Cherokee County too victory in Region 6 play.

Woods’ touchdown runs came from 50, 12, 27, 18 and 20 yards as the Warriors improved to 2-1 overall 1-0 region. Oneonta is 1-1, 0-1.

Warriors quarterback Adam Griffith added 99 yards on 5-for-9 passing and added a 1-yard touchdown run.

SPRING GARDEN 52, RAGLAND 33: Brady Ruark rushed for 176 yards on 18 carries and scored a touchdown as Spring Garden (2-1) won its Class 1A, Region 8 opener.

Baker also accumulated 129 yards on 13 carries with Spring Garden’s first three touchdowns on a pair of 7-yard runs in the first quarter and a 4-yard run to open the second. He also caught both of Ruark’s touchdown passes.

CENTRAL-CLAY 29, VALLEY 21: Taylor Boyd rushed for 204 yards and a touchdown, and Central-Clay improved to 2-1 while winning its Class 5A, Region 4 opener.

Valley is 2-1, 0-1.

Zion Newell added 133 yards and three touchdowns, and the Vols rushed for 395 of their 414 total yards.
