Senator Katie Britt Votes to Confirm Trump Nominees, Criticizes Democratic Obstruction

U.S. Senator Katie Britt Releases Statement Following Successful Effort to End Democrat Nominee Blockade

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-AL) released a statement after voting to confirm 48 of President Trump’s civilian nominees, emphasizing her role in addressing what she described as unprecedented obstruction by Senate Democrats during the 119th Congress.

Senator Britt, who has emerged as a leading Republican voice on the issue, argued that Senate Democrats engaged in deliberate efforts to stall the confirmation process. She pointed to Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and others, saying their actions effectively amounted to changing Senate rules by imposing delays across the board.

“Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats did everything they could to block President Trump’s nominees from taking office and serving the American people,” Britt said. “President Trump and Republicans were elected with a clear mandate last November to fix the mess left by the Biden-Harris Administration. That mandate includes putting the President’s team in place without delay, and I could not be more proud to help lead Senate Republicans in taking this important step.”

Britt underscored that the confirmations marked the beginning of a broader effort by Republicans to ensure President Trump’s administration could fully implement its agenda. She added that she worked closely with Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) as part of a group tasked with identifying solutions to the delays, and she played an active role in negotiations.

“The days of Democrats stonewalling the business of the American people are over,” she said. “Today’s confirmations are just the beginning—we will continue to work around the clock to confirm President Trump’s nominees and make the Senate work again for the American people.”

In addition to her legislative efforts, Britt circulated a memo to Senate Republicans outlining the scope of the obstruction and delivered a presentation to the House Republican Study Committee earlier this month. She also delivered a floor speech highlighting the history of partisan conflicts over presidential nominees.
