Washington D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-AL) voted to pass the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2026, advancing legislation that strengthens Alabama’s military installations — including a major investment at the Anniston Army Depot.

The FY26 NDAA includes $32 million to construct a Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Distribution Center at the Anniston Army Depot, a key facility supporting maintenance, supply, and readiness for the U.S. Army. The allocation underscores the depot’s continued role in national defense as one of the state’s most vital military and industrial assets.

“The NDAA ensures our military and warfighters remain the most lethal, well-equipped, and battle-ready in the world,” said Senator Britt. “Alabama’s contributions to the defense capabilities of our nation are second-to-none, and I’m proud to have supported multiple projects that will ensure our state remains a leader for years to come.”

Additional Alabama-focused provisions include $44 million for a physics lab at Redstone Arsenal, $55 million to complete the Propulsion Systems Building at Redstone Arsenal, and $28 million for Army Reserve construction and land acquisition at Maxwell Gunter Air Force Base.

Senator Britt also introduced an amendment requiring the Air Force to issue a report within 180 days on potential mold and toxin issues in Air Force housing, detailing the scope of the problem and necessary remediation steps.

The NDAA, passed annually since 1961, authorizes essential functions such as military funding, modernization, and national security initiatives. The FY26 version supports a total of $925 billion in national defense funding.
