TALLADEGA COUNTY, AL — A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 6:35 a.m. Saturday, October 18, has claimed the life of an Alexandria woman.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), 60-year-old Sonia Stoddard was fatally injured when the 2017 Nissan Rogue she was driving collided head-on with a 2016 Jeep Patriot driven by 44-year-old Antonio D. Ragland of Talladega. Stoddard was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Ragland was injured in the crash and was airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for treatment. A passenger in the Nissan, 71-year-old Steven B. Stoddard of Alexandria, was also injured and transported by air to UAB Hospital.
The crash occurred on Alabama 21 near Garrison Lane, approximately five miles north of Talladega city limits. ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continues to investigate the incident, and no further details have been released at this time.
