Anniston, AL – More than 600 endurance athletes from 34 states and Canada gathered in Anniston for the inaugural Life Time Coldwater Trail MTB and Run presented by Sunny King Auto, held October 24–25 at the Coldwater Mountain trail system.
The two-day event marked a milestone for both Anniston and the Southeast, quickly becoming the region’s largest endurance race and the easternmost qualifier in the Life Time Leadville Race Series—a coveted entry pathway into Colorado’s renowned Leadville Trail 100 MTB and Run.
Organized by Life Time (NYSE: LTH), the national healthy lifestyle brand behind nearly 30 premier athletic events, the weekend featured 50K and 100K mountain bike races along with 15K and 50K trail runs. Courses were designed to challenge elite athletes while also accommodating newcomers to off-road competition. With over $4 million invested in Coldwater Mountain’s world-class trail infrastructure, the event highlighted Alabama’s growing profile as a destination for outdoor recreation and eco-tourism.
Following two days of racing, 35 athletes earned qualification coins granting entry into the prestigious Leadville Trail 100 events. In addition to the competition, participants and spectators enjoyed a lively downtown finish festival featuring live music, local food vendors, brand showcases, and a Halloween-themed Neewollah celebration that united athletes, families, and residents in celebration.
“From the moment we began planning Coldwater Trail, the community has been an incredible partner—welcoming athletes from across the country and helping us bring this vision to life,” said Sarah Stutman, Associate Marketing Director at Life Time. “The energy on the trails and in downtown this weekend was a reflection of what makes this place so special.”
