Montgomery — AmFirst has been selected as the 2025 Wells Fargo Outstanding Corporate Citizen by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Alabama Chapter in recognition of its philanthropic leadership and community impact across the state. The announcement was made in conjunction with National Philanthropy Day, an annual celebration honoring individuals and organizations that promote giving as a foundation of community strength.
Nominated by the United Way of Central Alabama, AmFirst was chosen from a distinguished pool of candidates for its sustained investment in charitable initiatives, volunteer service, and advocacy efforts that align with the National Philanthropy Day theme: making the world better begins with purposeful giving in local communities.
In 2025, AmFirst and its employees contributed nearly $388,000 to United Way agencies across five Alabama regions, including Central Alabama, Cullman County, North Talladega County, East Central Alabama, and Southwest Alabama. The organization also expanded its community outreach through significant volunteer engagement, with employees donating more than 1,800 hours to local nonprofits and participating in more than 1,000 community events statewide.
Throughout the year, AmFirst supported a variety of programs and initiatives aimed at addressing critical needs and expanding educational opportunities. Highlights of their 2025 efforts include:
-
Annual Book Drive: Collected more than 1,500 children’s books for Better Basics.
-
Feeding Families Across Alabama: Helped provide more than 55,000 meals to Alabama residents.

“Giving back to the community is not just part of our mission—it’s at the core of our identity,” said Kevin Morris, President and CEO of AmFirst. “We believe that philanthropy is about showing up when people need us most and living the standard our members and communities deserve.”
The AFP Alabama Chapter has recognized philanthropic leadership since 1982, honoring the individuals, businesses, and organizations that continue to drive positive change across one of the nation’s most charitable states.
AmFirst leadership and staff say they remain committed to their guiding principle of people helping people, with plans to continue expanding the credit union’s community programming in the years ahead.
