Piedmont, AL – Piedmont will offer two community-centered New Year’s Eve events on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, providing daytime and evening options for families and residents to celebrate the holiday locally. Both events are organized by the Piedmont Arts & Entertainment Committee and are free to attend.
The day will begin with the Inaugural Sparky Sprint, scheduled from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Fagan Park. Designed with children and families in mind, the event invites participants to help Sparky prepare for the evening’s festivities with a short jog around the park. Prizes will be given to every child who participates. Organizers note the event is especially intended for families who may not be able to attend late-night celebrations.
Later that evening, the community is invited to downtown Piedmont for the 5th Annual New Year’s Eve Squirrel Drop, taking place from 10 p.m. until midnight along East Ladiga Street, near the gazebo at the intersection of Center Avenue and Ladiga Street.
The Squirrel Drop began in 2021 as a free, locally focused New Year’s Eve celebration aimed at bringing residents together in the heart of downtown. Now marking its fifth year, the event will recognize the City of Piedmont as a whole in celebration of the milestone anniversary. Evening activities will include music, games, giveaways, and a complimentary non-alcoholic sparkling cider toast at midnight for attendees of all ages.
Organizers encourage residents and visitors to attend one or both events to help ring in the New Year with family-friendly entertainment and community fellowship.
