ALEXANDRIA — Alexandria learned from its Class 4A, Area 12 loss at Cleburne County last week and came ready to teach Tuesday at home.

Cole Wheeler hit four 3-pointers while leading three Valley Cubs in double figures, and Alexandria dominated the second half en route to a 73-44 victory in Larry R. Ginn Gymnasium.

Alexandria (13-6) kept its hopes of playing host to the area tournament alive. A victory over Cherokee County at home on Friday forces a coin toss with Cleburne County (17-3) for hosting rights.
