Oxford, AL – The City of Oxford will mark its 174th anniversary with a special birthday celebration on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Oxford City Hall. The event will begin at 5 p.m., prior to the regularly scheduled Oxford City Council meeting.
The annual celebration is sponsored and organized by the Oxford Arts Council, which will also provide refreshments for attendees.
As part of the program, the Oxford High School Choir will present a patriotic musical performance in honor of the city’s anniversary. The performance is expected to highlight the community’s heritage and civic pride.
This year’s celebration will also feature the unveiling of the inaugural “Oxford At Its Best” community service awards. The awards are designed to recognize individuals and organizations that demonstrate exceptional dedication to the betterment of Oxford and its residents.
Three awards will be presented annually, including recognition for one citizen or organization, one business, and one employee who have shown exemplary service and commitment to the community.
City officials and community members are invited to attend the celebration and recognize the contributions that continue to shape Oxford’s growth and civic spirit.
