OXFORD, AL — Oxford High School is set to host the Rock Da O Concert on Thursday, April 30, 2026, offering students an afternoon of live music and hands-on learning.
The event will take place at 1:00 PM inside the Oxford High School Sports Arena and will feature a live performance by The Velcro Pygmies, a nationally recognized rock band known for high-energy shows. In addition to the featured performance, Oxford High School student Camden Turner is scheduled to join the band on stage during the concert.
Organizers say the event stands out for its student-led approach. Oxford High School’s Event Planning students have been responsible for coordinating all aspects of the concert, including logistics, marketing, sponsorships, and production. The initiative is designed to provide real-world experience in event management and collaboration.
The concert is presented in partnership with Reach and Teach and is supported by several local business sponsors. Rock N Roll Sushi – Oxford is serving as the Headliner Sponsor for the event.
According to organizers, tickets will be available exclusively to Oxford High School students for $5, making the concert an accessible option for student entertainment while also supporting a student-driven project.
Oxford High School business teacher Susan Harryman said the event highlights both creativity and practical skills developed in the classroom, noting that students have taken full ownership of the planning process.
The Rock Da O Concert is intended to combine live entertainment with educational opportunity, giving students a platform to showcase their work while engaging their peers through music.
