GADSDEN, AL — The Gadsden State Community College chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) has been recognized for multiple achievements at this year’s Catalyst Conference held in Baltimore, earning distinction among more than 1,300 chapters worldwide.
The chapter was named among the Top 100 Chapters internationally, continuing a consistent record of recognition on a global level. In addition, the chapter’s Honors in Action project ranked among the Top 50 Most Distinguished Projects, marking the first time the chapter has achieved this milestone.
Several students were also recognized individually for academic achievement. Felicia Hunter and Shelby McGinnis were honored during the Parade of Scholars as Coca-Cola Scholarship recipients, an acknowledgment of their academic performance and contributions.
Faculty leadership was also recognized during the conference. Vanessa Cochran was honored on stage as part of the Chapter Advisor Team Award, alongside Melissa Davis, recognizing their roles in guiding and supporting student success within the chapter.
Melissa Davis, PTK advisor, commented on the achievement, stating that she was proud of the students’ dedication and the progress the chapter continues to make on an international stage.
The recognitions reflect the chapter’s continued participation and performance within a global network of academic organizations, highlighting both student achievement and faculty leadership at Gadsden State.
