Alabama’s Daisha and Dalton Recap ‘The Amazing Race’ Morocco Challenges, Receive Recognition from Governor Kay Ivey

Amazing Race

WEAVER, AL — Alabama contestants Daisha and Dalton continued their journey on CBS’s The Amazing Race during Season 39’s third episode, which took competitors to Marrakesh, Morocco. The pair faced a series of challenges that tested their physical endurance, problem-solving skills and teamwork. Outside the competition, the duo also celebrated a milestone closer to home, receiving recognition from Alabama Governor Kay Ivey.

Challenges and Teamwork in Morocco

The episode began with a Roadblock requiring contestants to break objects to locate a hidden clue. Daisha completed the challenge, explaining in the team’s weekly recap that she quickly discovered a way to identify which objects contained clues by looking inside them.

Her strategy helped the pair move into second place early in the leg.

The next portion of the competition required teams to choose between two challenges involving a camel-related task or a dune buggy experience.

Daisha and Dalton initially selected the camel challenge, which involved moving heavy tires. Although they successfully moved the tires to the required location, their attempt was not accepted because Dalton had assisted Daisha with a portion of the task.

Daisha emphasized that their decision to switch challenges was not the result of giving up.

“Mama didn’t raise no quitter,” she said during the recap.

After switching to the dune buggy challenge, the pair encountered fellow competitors and offered assistance with pronunciation requirements.

Their decision to help other teams, including Aaron and Javi as well as Cody and Jamie, created some tension within the competition. Dalton also described using sign language to assist Cody with understanding the pronunciation.

Despite the competitive environment, the pair maintained that helping others was important to them.

A Difficult Finish and a Ninth-Place Result

The final challenge required contestants to arrange fruit at a market stand, a task Daisha and Dalton described as considerably more difficult than it appeared on television.

Daisha said the team experienced approximately 15 unsuccessful checks before completing the arrangement.

The repeated attempts cost the pair time, but they eventually finished the challenge and placed ninth.

The episode concluded with a cliffhanger involving other competing teams, leaving the outcome of that portion of the race unresolved until the following episode.

Governor Ivey Recognizes Alabama Contestants

Beyond their experiences on television, Daisha and Dalton recently visited Governor Kay Ivey, who presented them with a commendation recognizing their journey on The Amazing Race and their representation of Alabama.

The contestants shared their appreciation for the recognition in a public message, describing the meeting as an experience they would not take for granted.

They also reflected on the support they have received from communities throughout Alabama and the opportunities their participation in the television competition has created.

According to the pair, one of the most meaningful aspects of their experience has been connecting with residents across the state and encouraging others to pursue personal goals.

They expressed hope that their journey would inspire people to pursue opportunities ranging from starting businesses and traveling to exploring new interests and stepping outside their comfort zones.

The contestants also thanked Alabama residents for welcoming them into communities, sharing personal stories and supporting their participation in the competition.

“We carry a little piece of Alabama with us everywhere we go,” the pair shared.

Representing Alabama on a National Stage

For Daisha and Dalton, their participation in The Amazing Race has extended beyond the challenges shown on television.

Their appearance on the national program has provided opportunities to engage with communities throughout Alabama while highlighting their home state to a broader audience.

As Season 39 continues, the pair remains part of the competition following their ninth-place finish in Morocco.

Their journey continues to draw attention from supporters across Alabama, who are following the team’s progress through each new episode.
