Amazon to Open New Delivery Station in Oxford, AL, Creating Jobs and Economic Growth

Oxford, AL —  Amazon has officially opened a new delivery station in Oxford, AL, marking another step in the company’s continued investment in Alabama. The 85,000-square-foot facility, designated WBM4, is located in the Oxford South Industrial Park and is expected to create up to 70 full- and part-time jobs, in addition to new driver opportunities.

“As Amazon continues to invest in the economic growth of Alabama, we are excited to contribute to that growth with the launch of our newest delivery station in the state,” said Deborah Massie, Economic Development Manager for Amazon. “Our commitment to driving economic growth and creating high-quality jobs in rural communities is exemplified with the launch of this facility. We’re grateful for the partnership and support from the Calhoun County EDC, Mayor Alton Craft and the city of Oxford.”

Delivery stations play a critical role in Amazon’s logistics network, serving as the final step in the order process. Packages arriving from fulfillment and sortation centers are sorted, loaded into vehicles, and delivered directly to customers. The stations also provide opportunities for entrepreneurs through Amazon’s Delivery Service Partner program and offer flexibility for independent contractors who deliver packages through Amazon Flex.

Oxford Mayor Alton Craft welcomed the development, saying, “By collaborating with the Calhoun County EDC and other stakeholders, we’re creating meaningful opportunities for growth in our area. Projects like this not only boost our local economy but also support the families who proudly call Calhoun County home.”

Don Hopper, Executive Director of the Calhoun County Economic Development Council (EDC), called the project “a great investment in the region,” adding, “We are excited to see Oxford South Industrial Park grow with such innovation from a world-renowned company like Amazon and look forward to the positive impact this project will have on Calhoun County.”

Larry Deason, Chairman of the Calhoun County EDC, echoed those sentiments, noting that “seeing this project come to fruition is a proud moment for our community and a step toward sustained economic growth.”

Amazon’s footprint in Alabama has expanded significantly since 2010, with the company creating more than 7,500 full- and part-time jobs statewide and investing over $3.8 billion. These investments have contributed an additional $3.6 billion to Alabama’s economy, along with more than 10,300 indirect jobs generated by local businesses supporting Amazon’s operations.

The Oxford delivery station builds on Amazon’s growing presence in Alabama and reflects a long-standing partnership between the company, the City of Oxford, and the Calhoun County EDC.
