ANNISTON — The Anniston Bulldogs left no doubt about their place atop Class 4A, Region 6 on Friday night, cruising to a 43-6 victory over Oneonta to clinch the regional championship.
Senior running back Jabari Williams powered the offense with 186 rushing yards and two touchdowns, breaking away for scores of 37 and 90 yards. The Bulldogs (8-0, 6-0) remained unbeaten on the season and solidified their regional title, holding the head-to-head advantage over Alexandria (7-1, 5-1) after a tight 20-18 win on Sept. 12.
Quintavious Cunningham added 76 rushing yards, including a 70-yard touchdown, while quarterback Damon Popecontributed 51 yards on the ground with touchdown runs of seven and 24 yards. Isaac Mikle also found the end zone with a 48-yard touchdown run as part of his 53-yard performance.
On defense, Malachi Hall led the charge with eight tackles, while Dariontae Brooks, Charles Thomas, and Demris Almon each recorded six stops.
The Bulldogs will close out region play next week at home against White Plains before turning their focus to the postseason, where they will enter as the top seed from Region 6.
