Cleburne County, AL — A single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian early Friday morning, July 18, has claimed the life of a Pell City woman. The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Interstate 20 near the 208 mile marker, roughly three miles east of Heflin.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Kristi D. Browning, 55, was fatally injured when she was struck by a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Matthew J. Preece, 29, of Anniston. Browning was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. No additional information has been released at this time.
Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the incident.
