Anniston, AL – The Water Works and Sewer Board of the City of Anniston (AWWSB) has been named the winner of Alabama’s 2025 Annual Great American Water Taste Test Competition. The prestigious competition took place during the 47th Annual Alabama Rural Water Association (ARWA) Conference in Montgomery, Alabama.
AWWSB competed against numerous water systems from across the state, with its water sample judged as the best in Alabama. This victory secures the organization’s place as Alabama’s representative at the Great American Water Taste Test in Washington, D.C., scheduled for February 2026.
Alabama’s Annual Great American Water Taste Test Competition is a highlight of the ARWA Conference, bringing together water professionals from across the state to showcase the quality of their drinking water. Competing utilities submit water samples, which are evaluated based on taste, clarity, and overall quality.

With this achievement, AWWSB eagerly anticipates competing at the national level in Washington, D.C., where it will proudly represent Alabama and showcase the exceptional quality of Anniston’s drinking water.
