Anniston, AL – The City of Anniston, Alabama, is excited to announce the addition of Lake Yahou Park to its Parks and Recreation system following the McClellan Development Authority’s (MDA) asset transfer to the City. This transition marks a significant step in expanding recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike.
As part of the integration process, Lake Yahou Park, located at 370 Lake Yahou Rd, Anniston, AL 36205, will be temporarily closed effective March 19, 2025. This closure is necessary to allow the Anniston Parks and Recreation Department to conduct essential operational planning and staffing.
To ensure that Lake Yahou Park is properly managed and maintained, the Parks and Recreation Department will:
- Hire additional staff dedicated to overseeing McClellan’s recreational assets.
- Develop operational protocols for park activities, including obtaining City Council approval for fishing and camping fee schedules.
Once the park reopens, fishing and camping permits will be available at the Anniston PARD Aquatic & Fitness Center, located at 130 Summerall Gate Road, Anniston. For inquiries, the center can be reached at 256-847-7349.
City officials appreciate the community’s patience during this transition and look forward to welcoming visitors back to Lake Yahou Park as a premier outdoor destination. For ongoing updates, visit www.annistonal.gov/lake-yahou.
