ANNISTON, AL — Mountain bike racers will return to the Fort McClellan Mountain Bike Trail on Saturday, Sept. 5, for the 2026 Assault on Sunset Hill 6/3 Hour race.
The Labor Day weekend event will feature six-hour and three-hour endurance races, along with a one-lap race. This year’s event will also be part of the Chain Busters Racing Endurance Series.
Race-day packet pickup will begin at 7 a.m., with racing scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. All race times are Central Time.
The six-hour competition will begin with staggered starts. The Open and Single Speed division will start at 9 a.m., followed by Sport/Masters at 9:01 a.m., Grand Masters/Ultra Masters/Hero at 9:02 a.m., Base/Clydesdale at 9:03 a.m., two-person teams at 9:04 a.m. and three-person teams at 9:05 a.m.
Three-hour competitors will begin at 9:10 a.m. with the Open division. Additional divisions will start in one-minute intervals, including Single Speed, Sport Male, Ultra Masters/Clydesdale/Hero, Sport Female, Base Male and Base Female. The one-lap race is scheduled to begin at 9:21 a.m.
Participants will also have an opportunity to pick up race packets in advance on Friday, Sept. 4, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at NEABA headquarters, located at 26 W. 10th Street in Anniston.
