Calhoun County Area Chamber & Visitors Center Kicks-Off “Shop Small, Cheer Big” Campaign for the Holiday Season

Anniston, AL –  The Calhoun County Area Chamber & Visitors Center is once again partnering with American Express to encourage residents to support local businesses as part of the annual Shop Small campaign. This year, the Chamber is placing extra emphasis on the theme “Shop Small, Cheer Big,” highlighting both community pride and the importance of investing in hometown shops.

“‘Shop Small, Cheer Big’ is all about having fun while supporting our local businesses,” said Savannah Dempsey, Business Development Director and leader of the Chamber’s Small Business Committee. “It reminds us how special our small businesses really are. Every small purchase makes a big impact, keeping the hometown spirit alive and making a real difference for the people who call Calhoun County home.”

As part of this year’s efforts, the Chamber introduced a bingo-style challenge designed to encourage the community to explore new businesses and revisit favorite local spots. The project was recently discussed on the Chamber’s “In Tune with Calhoun” podcast, where Jess Nelson, Assistant Branch Manager at AOD Federal Credit Union’s Oxford location and a member of the Small Business Committee, shared her enthusiasm for the initiative.

“We’re making the ‘Shop Small, Cheer Big’ campaign fun with a bingo-style challenge so people can explore local shops, try new businesses, and celebrate everything our small business owners bring to Calhoun County,” Nelson said.
