Calhoun County, AL – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating recent property crimes and is calling on the public for help. By encouraging community involvement, the Sheriff’s Office hopes to improve public safety and hold those accountable for these criminal activities.
Property Crime: Around Sept. 8, a number of storage units in the Choccolocco area were broken into. Deputies were called out to the 4000 block of ChoccoloccoRoad in reference to a criminal mischief report where the business owner explained that six of his units’ locks had been broken. The owner stated that this is not the first time this type of incident had happened at the facility. The renters of the units are being contacted to determine if anything was stolen.
Catch of the Week: A traffic stop in Anniston led to the arrest of one suspect, and a warrant for another. On Sept. 10, a deputy stopped a blue SUV on U.S. 431 after it slowed in the left lane and blocked the flow of traffic. Deputies noticed the driver, Richard Carr, was acting suspiciously, and observed the rear windshield was completely covered in duct tape. A vehicle inventory uncovered several items containing suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Carr was arrested, and a warrant will be sought for the passenger Jennifer Noah.
