Calhoun County, AL – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating recent property crimes and is calling on the public for help. By encouraging community involvement, the Sheriff’s Office hopes to improve public safety and hold those accountable for these criminal activities.
Property Crime: On August 3, deputies were called to Pine Hill Golf Club after staff realized a customer had tried to use a counterfeit twenty. The currency didn’t stand out at first, but once they checked it with a detector pen, the bill didn’t pass the test. The customer told employees he’d gotten the bill at the Samco gas station on ChoccoloccoRoad. He paid what he owed the club and left before deputies arrived.
Catch of the Week: On August 3, deputies, working in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Service, attempted to serve a federal supervision warrant on Mark Toyer. As deputies approached, Toyer fled on foot. A Taser was deployed but was ineffective. After a short foot pursuit, deputies apprehended Toyer and took him into custody without further incident.
