Calhoun County, AL – Beginning October 1, Calhoun Journal readers will have a new way to stay connected with local news through the launch of the Calhoun Journal Daily Newsletter.
And one thing is not changing: Calhoun Journal remains free to read.
The launch of the paid newsletter does not create a paywall. All local news, breaking news, government coverage, sports, community events and other reporting published on CalhounJournal.com will continue to be available to readers at no charge.
The new subscription is for readers who want the convenience of having Calhoun Journal’s latest stories delivered directly to their email inbox each day while also supporting independent local journalism.
Subscription Options
Readers can choose from three subscription options:
Monthly — $2.99 per month
Annual — $29.99 per year
Founding Subscriber — $24.99 per year through November 30, 2026
Readers who subscribe as a Founding Subscriber by November 30, 2026, can lock in the $24.99 annual rate for as long as their subscription remains active. If a Founding Subscriber cancels and later rejoins, the current standard subscription rate will apply.
The Daily Newsletter will bring Calhoun Journal stories directly to subscribers’ inboxes, making it easier to keep up with news from across Calhoun County without having to check throughout the day for new stories.
Subscriptions also provide another way for readers to directly support the work Calhoun Journal does throughout the community.
A newsletter subscription is never required to read Calhoun Journal. Readers who prefer to continue visiting the website can still access CalhounJournal.com and its news coverage for free, just as they do today.
