Oxford, AL – Candlewood Suites, an IHG Hotel, marked its grand opening with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday. The new hotel, located at 73 Parkway Crossing across from Choccolocco Park, offers a state-of-the-art lodging experience for visitors to the Oxford area.
The event celebrated the addition of 92 studio suites designed for extended stays. Each suite features fully equipped kitchens, providing guests the flexibility to prepare home-cooked meals. The hotel also boasts amenities such as a fitness center, guest laundry facilities, and pet-friendly accommodations, catering to a variety of travelers.
Mayor Alton Craft praised the dedication of developers Darshan and Vishal Patel, highlighting their perseverance and investment in the project. “You cannot imagine all the hoops they had to jump through to get this thing started,” Craft remarked. “They have done an excellent job and kept their composure when things weren’t going right. They have become like family to us.”
Vishal Patel expressed gratitude to those who supported the project over the past 21 months. He recounted a pivotal conversation with Mayor Craft that led to selecting the location, underscoring the importance of the site near Choccolocco Park.
“This road has tremendous potential,” Patel said. “We’re proud to have been the ones to start this and look forward to supporting other businesses that come here.”
The new lodging destination is expected to draw tournament participants and visitors to Choccolocco Park, boosting the local economy and nearby businesses, particularly those in the Oxford Exchange area.
