Jacksonville, AL — Runners from across the region are expected to gather in Jacksonville this spring for the fifth annual Chief Ladiga Trail Run, an endurance event offering distances of 100 miles, 50 miles, 50K, and a half marathon (13.1 miles).

The race, organized by Zombie Trail Races, is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026, with a 7 a.m. start time at the Jacksonville Community Center. The event has grown into a notable endurance race in the Southeast, drawing both experienced ultrarunners and those attempting longer distances for the first time.

Participants will run along the Chief Ladiga Trail, a paved route that stretches through Calhoun County and connects to Georgia’s Silver Comet Trail. The course takes runners through a variety of landscapes, including wetlands, wooded areas, farmland, and open views of the Appalachian foothills. Those competing in the longer distances will cross into Georgia, reaching Nathan Dean Park in Rockmart before returning to Jacksonville.

Race organizers describe the course as relatively fast and crew-friendly, with aid stations spaced no more than eight miles apart. Crews are able to access most of these stops, providing support to runners throughout the event. The total elevation gain and loss across the course is estimated at approximately 3,500 feet.

In addition to the race itself, organizers plan to offer post-race amenities including food, beverages, and music at the finish line. All participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt, and finishers will be awarded a belt buckle or medal, a tradition common in ultrarunning events.

The race is also considered accessible for those new to ultradistance running, particularly due to the paved terrain and frequent support points along the course.
