Piedmont, AL – Benjamin Dempsey of Piedmont, AL was recognized for his involvement in Alabama’s livestock industry by receiving a scholarship from the Poarch Band of Creek Indians during a ceremony held Sunday, March 22. The presentation took place in coordination with the Southeastern Livestock Exposition Rodeo.
Dempsey was among student recipients honored for their participation and dedication to livestock programs across the state. The scholarship initiative is part of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians’ longstanding commitment to supporting youth involved in agriculture and livestock activities.
Each year, the Tribe awards scholarships to students representing all 67 counties in Alabama during SLE Livestock Week. The funding is intended to assist recipients with future participation in livestock events or to support their educational pursuits.
During the ceremony, Dempsey was recognized alongside other honorees, including Lincoln Seale of Butler County. Also present were PBCI Member and Perdido River Farms Director John English and Southeastern Livestock Exposition President-Elect Galen Grace.
The annual scholarship program highlights the continued partnership between agricultural organizations and community stakeholders in fostering youth development within Alabama’s livestock industry.
