Jacksonville, AL – In the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 24, 2026, officers with the Jacksonville Police Department responded to a commercial alarm at Edwards Grocery, located at 6726 AL Highway 204.
According to officials, at approximately 3:21 a.m., JPD Dispatch received the alarm notification after the business key holder requested a law enforcement response. While en route, an officer observed a white passenger vehicle parked in front of the business and witnessed an individual entering the rear passenger side of the vehicle.
As the officer entered the parking lot, the vehicle—later identified as a white Toyota Camry—fled the scene toward West Point Road along AL Highway 204. Upon arrival at the business, the officer observed signs of forced entry to the front door, along with a large item believed to be a safe left outside the building.
The officer advised Dispatch that a burglary had just occurred and initiated a vehicle pursuit involving the suspect vehicle, which was occupied by at least two individuals.
The incident remains under investigation, and authorities have not released additional details at this time. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
