Anniston, AL – On Saturday, March 21, 2026, the Anniston Police Department was dispatched to the 1600 block of Duncan Avenue with a report of a victim with a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, officers conducted a search of the residence and located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers began rendering aid as paramedics were called to the scene.
Investigators from the Anniston Police Department learned that the suspect, Tori Dimming, 19, of Anniston, was involved in an altercation with another member of his family when the victim, Dimming’s father, attempted to intervene. During the interaction between the father and son, the son obtained a firearm and discharged it, striking the victim in the face. Dimming was not at the residence when police arrived but did return later and met with investigators on scene. Dimming was detained and brought to the Anniston Police Department to conduct a formal interview. During the interview, investigators were able to establish probable cause that Dimming was the shooter, and a warrant was secured for his arrest. He was taken into custody and transported to the Calhoun County Jail.
During the initial investigation, the firearm used was not located. After speaking with Dimming, investigators were able to determine the firearm had been removed from the residence and taken to a different location. Investigators were able to go to that location, secure the firearm, and place it into evidence.
The victim was transported to Anniston RMC, where he was later flown to UAB. It was determined that the injuries sustained during the shooting were non-life threatening.
Dimming has been charged with Domestic Violence 1st and is currently being held with no bail pending an Aniah’s Law hearing on March 26, 2026. We spoke with District Attorney Lynn Hammond, who explained why there was no additional charge for assault: “Alabama Code Section 13A-6-130, Domestic Violence 1st also includes assault during the act. It is a Class A felony and can carry from 10–99 years or life in prison.” D.A. Hammond also advised that the case is still under investigation.
