Anniston, AL – The Calhoun County Extension Office will host another Cottage Food Safety Training class on October 21, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Extension Auditorium, located at 1702 Noble Street, Suite 108, Anniston, AL.
This session follows the highly attended class held on September 2, which reached its maximum of 35 registered participants and generated a waiting list. Organizers hope those who were unable to attend previously—and others across the community interested in selling homemade food products—will take advantage of this new opportunity to become certified.
The training helps participants:
-
Understand Alabama’s cottage food law
-
Learn where homemade foods can be sold
-
Recognize labeling requirements
-
Review basic food safety practices
The certification fee is $25, and registration is available online at www.aces.edu/go/cottagelawbusiness. Cash payments are not accepted.
The class is presented by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, a partnership between Alabama A&M University and Auburn University, and supports small business owners, home bakers, and food entrepreneurs working to legally sell shelf-stable food items in Alabama.
