Piedmont Interim Chief Nathan Johnson released a statement regarding a domestic incident that occurred in Piedmont. Additional sources have confirmed that two were found deceased. No further official information has been released. We will follow the progress of the investigation.

Official Press Release 8/1/2021- Piedmont Police Department
On July 31, 2021 at approximately 2 pm the Piedmont Police Department received a 911 call in reference to a man and a woman deceased in a home on the 1200 block of Law Martin Rd and that both had been shot. The Piedmont Police and other emergency personnel responded to the scene and located a white female and a white male both deceased inside the home. The female was identified as 56 year old Sandra Ranae Leath and she suffered from a fatal gunshot wound. The male was identified as 49 year old Dave Dewayne Pierce and he suffered from an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound. Family members of Pierce advised that in the recent weeks he had been having odd behaviors and believed he was having mental episodes. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this troubling time.
