ANNISTON, AL — The Georgia-Alabama Land Trust (GALT) will host an Echo Walk at Weaver Cave Preserve on Thursday, July 9, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at 1000 Cave Road in Anniston. The free, family-friendly event was rescheduled from its original June 18 date because of inclement weather.
During the evening hike, participants will join GALT staff and biologists from Alabama Power to explore the preserve after dark while learning about Alabama’s native bat species. Using acoustic monitoring equipment, attendees will listen for and identify bats by their ultrasonic calls, offering a unique opportunity to experience the preserve’s nighttime wildlife.
The event is recommended for ages 6 and older. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and signs will be posted to direct visitors to the parking area.
Registration is required for all participants and can be completed online through Eventbrite at:
The event is free and open to the public, but advance registration is necessary to attend.
