ANNISTON — The City of Anniston has announced the last opportunity for residents to participate in Free Disposal Days before transitioning to a new residential trash pickup provider. Citizens may drop off items free of charge on Friday, September 19, and Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Residents are reminded that some items will not be accepted, including hazardous waste of any kind, batteries, corrosives, paint, electronics, tires, and appliances containing Freon such as refrigerators and freezers.
Drop-off sites will be organized by ward:
-
Ward 1: Pelham Park
-
Ward 2: Carver Center Parking Lot
-
Ward 3: South Highland Center Parking Lot
-
Ward 4: Hodges Center Parking Lot
The change comes ahead of October, when the City of Anniston will move to a new trash service provider. Under the new system, curbside bulk pickup of household items will be available, making separate Free Disposal Days unnecessary.
Additionally, residents are encouraged to note that the Calhoun County Commission also hosts free landfill days, with the next scheduled dates set for the end of October 2025. Specific dates will be announced closer to time.
