Gadsden State Cardinal Foundation Recognizes Board Members and Welcomes New Leadership

GADSDEN, AL – During the most recent meeting of the Gadsden State Cardinal Foundation, several board members were honored for their dedicated service, and new officers and members were formally introduced.

Outgoing President Tommie Goggans III was recognized for his leadership over the past two years. Under his guidance, the Foundation hosted two gala events and several fundraising campaigns, awarding more than $120,000 in student scholarships and supporting numerous college initiatives. Goggans will remain on the board as a member.

“Previous board presidents led by example and inspired others to give of their time, influence and resources,” said Goggans. “My goal was to build on our previous achievements by thinking big and taking bold and decisive action to improve our organization.”

Bryan Dorsett was also recognized for his contributions during two board terms, including his tenure as Treasurer. Dorsett played a key role in the Foundation’s financial transition to Mason Investment Advisory Services.

“Serving as a Board Member has reinforced the power of collaboration and strategic leadership in shaping futures,” said Dorsett.

New officers were announced for the upcoming fiscal year. Major General Eric Crabtree (USAF, retired) will serve as President, Tony Smith as Vice President, Melissa Battles as Treasurer, and Gerri Langley as Secretary.

Two new members were welcomed to the Board of Directors. Gerald Pentecost, a Certified Public Accountant and Gadsden State alumnus, brings financial expertise and experience in community service through his roles with the Humane Society Pet Rescue and Adoption Center and the Rotary Club of Gadsden. Sheri Rollins, District Director for Congressman Mike Rogers (AL-03), also joins the board with decades of government service and community involvement. She serves in leadership positions with the Cleburne County Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, and Cheaha Republican Women’s Club.

“The tremendous talent and expertise afforded to Gadsden State Community College through our Cardinal Foundation’s Board of Directors is an immeasurable asset,” said Hillary Folsom, Director of Advancement and Alumni Relations. “The members of our board give their time, their talent, and their unwavering support to the mission of GSCC and the students who benefit from our philanthropic efforts.”
