ANNISTON, AL — Kids in Calhoun County are in for a wildly fun, educational summer experience as Gross Out Camp returns to the Anniston PARD Aquatic & Fitness Center beginning Monday, June 16. Hosted by Fresh Air Family, this award-winning day camp runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Friday, June 20, with extended hours available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Gross Out Camp isn’t your typical summer program. Designed for hands-on learning, campers spend the week exploring the natural world around them—creeks, woods, and sunshine included—as they search for bugs, millipedes, crawdads, and more. Camp activities emphasize field biology, design-thinking science experiments, and outdoor play. With a strict no-screen policy, the camp encourages children to engage fully with nature, labeling the outdoors as “the biggest classroom.”
Ideal for young scientists and nature lovers, Gross Out Camp maintains a small group size of 20 campers per session to ensure safety and individualized attention. Financial aid is available for families in need.
Additional sessions of Gross Out Camp at the Anniston Aquatic and Fitness Center will be held July 14–18 and July 21–25.
This program is made possible through the support of the Coosa Valley RC&D Council and is part of Fresh Air Family’s commitment to outdoor science education. For registration and details, visit www.GrossOutCamp.org.
