Earlier this morning Jacksonville High School administrators learned of a potential bomb threat at the school. Jacksonville Police Department was contacted and a full evacuation of the building was started. All students and staff were advised to proceed to the football stadium and remain in place until the building could be checked.

Jacksonville Police Department requested K-9 assistance from Vapor Wake K-9 to search the building along with their own dog. Vapor Wake K-9 is a training facility in Anniston, that specializes in training dogs that are utilized by law enforcement for searching and defense. Vapor Wake did provide multiple dogs and handlers to assist and speed up the clearance of the building.

A complete and thorough search of the building was completed in approximately two hours and no suspicious devices were located. The students were then able to return to their classrooms but will be released at 2:00 pm.
